Every token I spend on AI coding, by day, for the last year. Codex, Claude Code and Cursor. The counts come from the session logs those tools already write on this Mac — but they are not the providers' own figures. The logs record raw usage per message; deciding what to count is the parser's job. Which messages are real, how to dedup a resumed session, which cache class a write belongs to: all judgement calls, and getting one wrong moves the total by a lot.
I pay for all three by subscription, so none of this is money that left my account. It is what the same tokens wouldhave cost at API list prices. The rates come from genai-prices, which keeps a dated history, so each day is priced at the rate that applied then rather than at today's. The totals still run low: some models have no published rate at all, and long-context requests fall into tiers a day's totals cannot reconstruct.
Warming up.
An estimated $7,925.36 of AI coding across Codex, Claude Code and Cursor over the last 351 days.
$7,925.36 in total across 351 days, all estimated. 213 days had activity and 138 days were logged with nothing spent. The biggest single day was $315.05 on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
The dashed line is what an even spread would look like. The gap between them is how much of this is a handful of very long days.
